Yellow Submarine was a venue under street level at 12 Ward Street, formerly The Castle, owned by Sam Walsh and Adam McKay. The venue opened on 23 June, 2007, with a gig featuring Auckland bands Charlie Ash, The Wicks, The Glory Sea, Kittyhawk and the Debutantes, and Hamilton's Sora Shima.

After almost a year, the venue closed following a final gig on 15 June 2008. By this time McKay had moved overseas, and Walsh had decided to move out of Hamilton also. They tried selling the venue to a new operator, but were unsuccessful.
