Wetbacks. Nexus, March 1986

Wetbacks formed in mid-1983, and featured Dianne Archer (guitar, vocals), Pateriki Hura (bass, vocals), Jeff Sinnott (drums) and Chris Corby (guitar), although the latter was replaced in 1986 by Murray Hintz (keyboards). Paul Donnelly of Two White Eyes also played bass at some time.

Wetbacks released one six track mini-album, Out of the Swamp, in 1985. They also have a song, Don't get Caught, on the 1985 compilation Weird Culture, Weird Custom, released by "National Student Radio" (later B-net), distributed by Jayrem. They played support to a number of popular New Zealand bands of the time, including Netherworld Dancing Toys, The Mockers, The Narcs and Coconut Rough. They played the University Orientation festival in 1985 and 1986. Soon after the 1986 Orientation performance, the band flew to Melbourne in an attempt to crack the Australian market.
