The Red Shift was a hardcore band formed after Daredevil broke up in 2001-2002. The band featured Mark Newbold (bass; ex- Shinkasta, Daredevil, Vargas and Evil Priest and Mark Seeney (drums; ex-Arkane, Daredevil, Evil Priest and Misled by Lies) with Aucklander Duncan "Pepe" Long (guitar) and Simon Bartlett (vocals).

A memorable song played at Hamilton and Auckland shows was a cover of Joy Division's "Love Will Tear Us Apart". The Red Shift were active in the mid 2000s but disbanded soon after.
