Pugnaut existed in the mid-1990's, and included Christian Livingstone (guitar) who went on to Trinket (1997-2000) and The Datsuns (2000-present). Pugnaut drummer Ben Cole also joined the Datsuns in late-2006, as a replacement for original drummer Matt Osment. The band had the song Jimmy the TFC included on the 1996 compilation In Love With This Town.
