Hunter had moved to Hamilton to attend Waikato Teachers College in 1970, but did not complete his schooling there. The band soon gained residency for three months at Auckland pub Tabla Two, but were unable to pull large crowds. They band soon changed their name to Staff, and Hunter and Goodwin went on to form Dragon.
