While based in Hamilton, Marion Arts was a member of the bands Swellsfoot Assembly, 1953 Memorial Society Rock'N Roll Band and The Red Hot Peppers. She had a number of tracks released on the soundtrack to the movie Solo (mostly with Robbie Laven; 1978), including one track from the soundtrack on the b-side to the David Fraser Orchestra's Solo Theme. For a number of years based in Tauranga, she has also recorded solo albums including Solo Performance (1992) and Songs of the Rings (2000). She recorded albums with Robbie Laven, her husband and former member of 1953 Memorial Society Rock 'n' Roll Band and The Red Hot Peppers, There's Two Sides to it (1981), the Lost Angel (1984) and Silver (2000).
