World Cup Soccer was an instrumental band consisting of Grant Brodie(keyboard), Daniel Devicich(bass), Christian Pearce(drums) and Brian Holloway(guitar) to contest the Contact FM Battle of the Bands in 199???. They played, they lost. There were rumours swirling of a record deal with US label Merge after a copy of their demo fell into the hands of Laura Ballance but the band disbanded before any agreement could be finalised.
