Reiner Beet was guitarist and founding member of Waikato hard rock band Fury. Fury were winners of the famous "Hillcrest Tavern" battle of the bands. Beet was well known for his virtuoso style and energetic stage presence. He was tragically killed in a car crash in 1992. The 1993 Blackjack song Now You Fly, written by Paul Martin, and Pray For A Friend written by Tim Amstrong was dedicated to Beet.
