Carolyn Wood and Simon Lawrence

Out of Ashes were (are?) Carolyn Wood (vocals, keyboards) and Simon Lawrence (guitar, vocals); both formerly of Lure. When Lure split up in late 1996, Carolyn and Simon initially carried on under the Lure moniker with the intention of finding a new vocalist and drummer. Failing to find suitable replacements, Carolyn took over lead vocals, and with the addition of programmed drums they became Out of Ashes. The duo's style is more towards the neo-classical/folkish end of the melodic Blackmetal spectrum than the previous band.
