New Millennium Beatniks is centered around the poetry of Richard Selinkoff, accompanied by various musicians. The first iteration of the band featured Selinkoff and Martin Fisher on double bass. Since this time the band has expanded, and has included Chelsee Flower (piano, electric guitar), Lott Larsson (drums, percussion), Chris Field (trumpet and guitar) and Macaila Pescud (violin).
Mutchison Hiller created the documentary Symbolic Headgear about the band in 2015.
