Inturnal were formed in late 2002 by Joelle Walker (lead vocals), Carleen Janlewicz (guitar, back up vocals), Gabriel Smith (guitar, back up vocals), Mr X (bass) and Sharnay Moxey (drums). In 2003 they made the semi-finals of the Generator Battle of the Bands, the semi-finals of the "National Battle of the Bands", and won the "Peavey Band Search".
