Graeme Cairns' was a founding member of Big Muffin Serious Band in 1983, a band which he still active in performing with. However, he is best known for his role as "Laird McGillicuddy", the leader of the satirical political party the McGillicuddy Serious Party. Cairns unsuccessfully stood for Mayor of Hamilton in 1983, and formed the McGillicuddy Serious Party the year after.
