Dry Riser claimed to be Hamilton's first reggae band. They had an eleven-piece line up that was heavy on the up-beat and funk.

Dry Riser was formed in 1989 by Steven Perdia (ex-Pieces of Cod) and Gary Clarkson. The band played gigs, recorded a couple of songs, and eventually disbanded after two years. Songs included Principles, Where we Started, Salvation, Muffin Song, Goes Like This, Friend of Mine and Burn Babylon Burn.

Gary Clarkson went on to Boil Up, while Nandor Tanczos became an MP for the Green Party.
