Cool Drop was a selection from songs recorded by Daniel Howard, Chris Field and a loose group of musicians over a period of approximately three years at DownbeatStudio, released under the name Eightyeight c.2003. The EP was produced, mixed and mastered by Howard and Field.

Main vocalist Penni Bousfield wrote 'Angel' (and later made a video for this song). Bousfield co-wrote 'Close Your Eyes' and 'Whatever Happens' with Howard, the latter taking its lyrics from the writings of Roman philosopher Marcus Aurelius. 'Close Your Eyes' appeared on Year Zero and 'Angel' on Zero Point One. 500 copies of 'Cool Drop' were pressed and distributed.
