She married Paul Trenwith of Hamilton County Bluegrass Band, and became Colleen Trenwith. Following the split of Hamilton County Bluegrass Band, Trenwith recorded two albums with her husband; Fresh from the Country (1976) and Brand New Day (1986). Two other albums were released as Paul and Colleen Trenwith and Friends, Gospel (1979) and Now to the King (1987). Colleen left Hamilton in 2004, and since 2007 has been at East Tennessee State University, firstly as a student and now as staff.

Colleen and Paul had four sons, Mike, Jeremy, Sam and Tim, who have played in Radiator, Broken Harmonium and Late 80's Mercedes.
