Chanting Boys were a four piece band active between 1984 and 1988, which included Tim Santner. The band had a gothic rock sound. They recorded a four-track demo at the Fridge Studio, produced by John Pattenden, which was sent to radio stations on a TEAC c90 cassette. Songs on the demo were Imaginary Lovers, Away to Stay Today, Katherine by Night and Grey Day. Several songs featured on the Contact Top 20 for a number of weeks, while Katherine by Night was also a hit on Radio Active in Wellington. The band moved to Sydney for a short time and became Blew Up Mind.
