New Millennium Beatniks is centered around the poetry of Richard Selinkoff, accompanied by various musicians. The first iteration of the band featured Selinkoff and Martin Fisher on double bass. Since this time the band has expanded, and has included Chelsee Flower (piano, electric guitar), Lott Larsson (drums, percussion), Chris Field (trumpet and guitar) and Macaila Pescud (violin). They released their debut album, The New Millennium Beatniks Volume One in December 2017.

Mutchison Hiller created the documentary Symbolic Headgear about the band in 2015.
