The Casiotone Busker was otherwise known as Shane Middlemiss. Originally from Matangi, he could often be seen outside the Deka on Victoria Street playing tunes on his Casiotone keyboard.
He showed musical aptitude from a young age when he entertained classmates at Matangi School with his own version of "Christmas Tree", featuring the lyrics "Christmas tree, oh, Christmas tree, how lovely are your bananas".
