Robbie Laven was a member of Auckland band Moses of the Munks in the mid-1960s, before moving to Hamilton to attend Waikato Univesity. In Hamilton he initially formed the 1953 Memorial Society Rock'N Roll Band in 1971 and later The Red Hot Peppers c. 1975. He has recorded albums with Marion Arts (as Robbie Laven and Marrion Arts, or vice versa) including There's Two Sides to it (1981), the Lost Angel (1984), Childs Play (1988) and the Silver compilation (2000).
