Jamie Strange was pop/rock artist, turned politician hopeful. In 2008 Strange released a song called "Rockstar Clone" that was runner-up in a UK Songwriting Competition, which consisted of over 6000 entries. "Rockstar Clone" also received regular airplay on The Rock and Life FM, and appeared on television channels Juice TV and C4. In 2009 he released the album Thanks for Faking it Sometimes, which explored the theme of 'faking it as a rockstar'. Overall, the album was a satirical look at a cliche rockstar. Several of his videos have acquired >200 views on YouTube.

Strange stood unsuccessfully for Hamilton City Council in 2013. In 2014, Strange stood as a Labour candidate for the Taupō electorate, and in 2016 he was chosen as candidate for Hamilton East to contest the 2017 General Election.
