The Studio was a venue on Anglesea St that lasted for a few months around 1979, in a building previously used as a pancake parlour next to Courtenays nightclub and restaurant. Playing exclusively punk and new wave, Auckland bands came to Hamilton to play there over a number of weekends, while a resident DJ played new records. The venue was decorated with a lot of black paint and black plastic, and utilised harsh lights.
