Hamilton Based Garage Rockers, played their first gig on May, 2008. Newcomers to the Hamilton scene Sumo Love machine are rock the way it's meant to be - Raw, Rough and Ready to Roll.  They ain't no cheesy covers band baby...
''Sumo Love Machine'' were a Hamilton based garage rock band, who played their first gig in May 2008. They were initially formed as a joke/punk band amongst a group of bored flatmates. The band undergwent many changes in the line-up, and a gradual shift towards more sophisticated brand of good-time 'party' rock with mainstream appeal. By the time the band broke up in 2011, [[Arron Stewart|Cappy]] was the only founding member still active in the group. They released on E.P., the dowload only [[Pushing and Shoving]] in 2011.

Son of a German shoemaker, Malachi came to NZ in 1987 and worked as a shoe shine boy in Te Awamutu before being discovered by the band passed out in a McDonalds drive thru. He learned to sing English by watching Elton John videos out the back of his uncle’s adult shop.

Stumpy learned the art of rock re-writing western songs for the Polish government. He wrote such classics as “I was made for conformity, baby” and “Don’t go breaking the bread queue”. After breaking up with the former Miss Poland, he travelled to London where he met Smash and the rest as they say is history.

Lying about his age, Sammy got into the porn industry at the age of 14. After countless lawsuits and health scares, Sammy thought it was time for a change of occupation. He left Vegas, flew as far away as possible and was found busking on a street corner with two tree branches, a rubbish bin and only one shoe. Sumo adopted him as their drummer - so he wouldn't be deported.

Smash , originally from London, was a classically trained acoustic guitarist but lost fine motor control after taking a corkscrew to the brain in a pub donnybrook. He soon emigrated to NZ and regained enough skill to play rough power chords. He wears a hat to cover the slight scar left by the injury.

Cappy was born in the coal-mining town of Kilthaven. Little is known about his early years, no records detail his education or employment. Some say this may be a conspiracy to cover up his murky past in special ops - others say it is because he is Scottish. Cappy learned to play guitar by listening to Chuck Berry records backwards.
