About Us
6ft Under was Hamilton's only dedicated metal bar, opening in June 2004 and situated downstairs on Victoria St near Soundproof. It was opened with a guarantee that punters would not hear "hip hop, house, pop, rap or rave" eminating from the speakers.

6ft Under is New Zealand's only dedicated metal bar. Possibly one of only a handful on Earth.

The metal feel permeated 6ft Under; the bar was made from tombstone, there was a coffin in the DJ cage, a black pool table, gravestones, a pickled kitten, Black Sabbath on the speakers and the only dress code was a ban on gang patches.
+
6ft Under is unique in Hamilton in that it caters to those who like their music heavy, their beer cold and their favourite drop of Jack Daniels close at hand.

6ft Under was owned by Paul Martin of the Rock 93 FM's Axe Attack, who was also the inhouse DJ.
The bar is made from tombstone, the dancefloor pumps with Slipknot and 8 Foot Sativa and Pantera. There's a coffin in the DJ cage, a black pool table, gravestones, a pickled kitten, Black Sabbath on the speakers and, tattoos are allowed. Long, short, no, spiked, coloured, hair - all ok. Horns ok. Fangs ok. Black ,blue, yellow, spotted, or camo jeans are also ok. Even boots. But they draw the line at gang patches.

6ft Under closed down in early 2006.

There's also a regular BBQ, house specials (like 6ft Sativa) and giveaways, NZ Zulu Girls, visiting celebs, firedancers and bubbleblowers who perform on the outside deck and topless pool nights. The in house DJ is The Axeman of The Rock 93FM's Axe Attack.

The 6ft Team is dedicated to keeping alive the memory of slain metal guitarist Dimebag Darrell. They have already funded a guitar scholarship as well as donating guitars to local schools with proceeds raised at bar events.
