1ZH was a Hamilton based radio station operating between 1949 and 1993. The station broadcast on 1310AM from 1949 to 1978, and then moved to 1300AM. In the name, the 1 refers to the North Island, the Z denoted it was a government owned commercial station, while the last letter of the name denoted the first letter of the location (i.e., Hamilton). The station was based for a while in Alma St.
