Rush FM broadcast on the contested 89FM frequency, following on from Backbeat FM, and began broadcasting in October 2010. The station had policies that were, according to the station management, "socially responsible". The station thus listed its position as, among other things, "anti-nuclear, anti-war, anti-GM crops, anti-1080, anti-corruption, anti-globalization, anti-woman and child abuse, and anti-animal cruelty". The station went off the air in April 2011. The 89FM frequency was eventually revived by Free FM in August 2012.
