Two White Eyes, Nexus June 1986

One of the most popular local bands on student radio in the mid 1980's was Two White Eyes. The earliest stable lineup featured Paul Donnelly (bass), Ross Holloway (guitar) and Peter Corby (drums). Formed in late 1984, the band supported The Skeptics and the Double Happies (in one of their final gigs) at O-week in 1985, and The Chills on a later occasion.

They are most well known for their song Thinking of, which appeared on the 1986 compilation Weird Culture, Weird Custom, released by "National Student Radio" (now B-net). Another song, Teacher, also received a lot of play on Contact. Eight of their songs appeared retrospectively on the 1991 Ross Holloway compilation A Decade on the Hamilton Underground.

Other members at various times were Ian Chapman (drums; founding member), Gary Northcote (bass) and Chris Worthington (bass, final Hamilton lineup). The band moved to Christchurch in an attempt to find success, but disbanded twelve months later. Ross Holloway went on to form the Pregnant Hippies.
