Tim Armstrong Band

Tim Armstrong was born in Birmingham, England, in 1961 and emigrated to Tokoroa in 1966. While in Tokoroa, Tim joined a few short lived bands, including Metric, Emanon and Longshot. In 1981 he formed The Politicians and subsequently moved the band to Hamilton.

Tim Armstrong band was formed in 1986 by Tim Armstrong after leaving The Politicians. The band was resident first at Zaks Nitepub, followed by Roxoff, in Hamilton. They later moved to the Forge Niteclub in Papakura. Moving to the USA and England they changed their name to The Kiwi Bandits, which lasted until 1998, before returning to New Zealand and changing their name back to the Tim Armstrong band.

Tim Armstrong won the 'Best Waikato Male Vocalist' award 1993 at the Rock 93 FM Waikato Rock Awards. The band also won the 'best recorded work' award with the song My New House.
