The Lobes were Haydn Butler (Guitars/Vocals), Wayne Bowman (Guitars/Vocals), Charlie Amner (Bass Guitar) and Rory Pickle (drums). Perpetual tryers, The Lobes entered the annual Battle of the Bands competitions in 1995, 1996 and 1997. However, they failed to make the finals on all three occasions. The height of their successes saw the track Freak reached number 3 on the contact FM charts.
