The Bathtub Sophist

Alt/Electronic solo project of Arron Stewart. One of H-towns quiet achievers.

The Bathtub Sophist's home-brewed music has featured on radio in many countries including the USA, Canada, Ireland, Sweden, Spain and NZ. The music has featured on countless indie pod-casts. TBS has also featured in a number of radio interviews, and a magazine spot in America and Canada respectively.

In 2007, TBS released an EP of early tracks and demos titled That Down-Home Astral Sound made at home with 'audacity', a broken guitar, a computer and 500ms of lag. 2008 saw the release of his first finished works on the 5 track EP Music from an L-Shaped Room, largely receiving mixed reviews in the music media, but also some pockets of acclaim. A further 4 track EP Transmission was released in late 2009, which has since been enjoying largely positive reviews and increased radio airtime, including play on American alternative/college radio networks.

Going from strength to strength, 2010 will see the release of his first full length album, a concept album rooted in seasonal themes and the natural world.

TBS is also a founding member, songwriter and lead guitarist for Hamilton-based Garage Rock/Punk Band Sumo Love Machine.
