the concept of acme was actualy created by both justin black and poondip, poondip is not kenyan he is from perth western australia but moved to kenya at a young age as his parents where bush pilots. the concept of aids carrying mosquitos epidemic was created in the basement of justin a nd rob blacks grandparents house while poon and justin where recording songs on a tape deck. that was in raglan. the first drummer of acme was a fijian guy nicknamed animal, animal left raglan an moved to invercargill. the valhalla boys moved to raglan and james campkin and gareth joined acme, justin had committed suicide by this time and sol was already in acme with justin and poondip previously. later gareth left the band and matt henderson joined. acme played at more venues than just the raglan pub, they were also the only band to get banned from the down under bar as they had afollowing of insane fans who wrecked the joint. acme played gigs with gedra and gfnr . they played at the whiteheart hotel in the redroom. also hand gun syndicate records put together a compilation album called demon nation music volume one which had james campkins song on it named the angel grinder. poondip originally started listening to punk rock in los angeles inflienced by bands such as d.r.i and suicidal tendancies, black flag etc. he spent his teenage years living in el segundo, hermosa, and redondo. he moved to raglan at 17 because his mother had to send him back to new zealand as his parents were kiwis, so he is a duel citizen of australia and new zealand. acme is a not just poondips idea it is him and justins joint concept.the red room is in new plymouth,since 2018 poondip has continued playing and recording as acme, there is a recent album on bandcamp called burning in the ozone, also there is an acme singal on von toxics bandcamp page called the wolf, musicians on the album are rob black on lead guitar , liam from the contenders on bass guitar, poondip on rythm guitar andG G on drums and nigel toxic on vocals as well as poondip doing some vocals to.there is also acme music on reverbnation website. poondip last performed in 2020 at biddy milliginns in hamilton for mad pride, look on you tube for jason and gage and you will find it. poondip does not play or record any of previous members of the bands personal songs., but plays songs he himself has composed. the main reason acme is continued is to carry the torch in memomry of justin black.The garden shed story is true, poon lived in the rat shack with Dan uncle's for a while . Also acme had a drummer from whakatane named jelo for a short while to till campkin rejoined the banda's he left acme for a short time to do Leith gigs and recordings.CAMPKIN now has his own projects such as sea hunt and strapped on , however on his you tube channel has the acme album im totally fucking hopeles which was recorded at rexes studio on tramway road for 20$ in the 90s.
