sink \ sink formed in early 2010, its first line-up comprising of ex-Laughter in the Mainsail members Jamie Dryden (vocals) and Alan Deare (bass), joined by Gareth Schott (guitar) and Greg Thomas (drums). The band disbanded in November 2010, with Dryden and Deare going on to form Blood Pops (2011-) and Schott retaining the name sink \ sink.

sink \ sink's second and current line-up includes Gareth Schott (songwriter and multi-instrumentalist), Kim Schulke (vocals) and Callum Plews (programming and production). This line up released a debut EP (via childrenplay records, UK) entitled Center Folds, in July 2011. sink \ sink appeared on the birds of passage curated charity compilation album Tomorrow's Conversations (May 2011).

Their debut album, The Darkest Dark Goes, released April 16, 2012 by Feedback Loop Label (Portugal). The album features sleeve art by Hamilton artist Meredith Collins.

The first single from the album, A Place That I Love, was released as a free download. It featured unreleased b-side One Swallow Does Not Make a Summer and remix track Gursky by US-artist Cricket's Make Math. [1]

Song, Black Gold, is due to feature on a compilation put together by UK independent label, Invisible Girl. The promo video for Black Gold was included in the 2011 HUFF: Hamilton Underground Film Festival, curated by Emit Snake Beings.
