''Shearer's Music Works'' was established in August 1963 as ''Andy Shearer's Music Store'' by Andy and Rowena Shearer. ''Andy'' had previously worked for [[Begg's]]. The store first opened in Toorak Chambers at 548 Victoria St, but moved to 313 Victoria St in the early 1970s. The store later moved to larger premises in Garden Place, and in 1988 to an even larger shop at 380 Anglesea Street, where it is still found. The distinctive building is painted with the music score from Sonatina op. 36, no. 4. by Muzio Clementi.
