The [[Party in the Plaza]] was a council-sponsored concert held in the [[Civic Plaza]], the concreted area between [[Garden Place]] and the City Council on Saturday the 21st of December, 2002. There were questions raised prior to the event that the expected influx of teenagers to the CBD would not only disrupt Christmas shopping, but that it would result in increased violence and theft, and the plaza itself would collapse into the underground carpark below.
