Michel Rowland, more commonly known simply by his first name (as most people are), i.e, as Michel, has been the member of several Hamilton bands. Most notably, Michel formed Disjecta Membra in 1993, which has remained his main creative output ever since. Pre-Disjecta Membra projects he was involved with included Danse Macabre and Nösferätu (late 1980s), while he was also a member of Falling Cynic/Intract in the mid-1990s. Disjecta Membra relocated to Wellington in 1996, where Michel also appeared as a member of numerous side projects. He returned to Hamilton in 2003 and co-founded the Auckland trio Black Virgin Milk. In 2004 he was bassist for Rose Petals and Confetti, and has since then regularly collaborated with Mark Tupuhi and Bregiz. He is now the only Hamilton-based member of Disjecta Membra (Wellington).
