''Kane Davey'' was a guitarist for Hamilton band [[Pugnaut]] in the mid-1990s. Leaving Hamilton in 2000, in 2003 he formed a band called ''Woebegone'' in Wellington. ''Davey'' was the songwriter, vocalist and lead guitarist, and ''Vivian Stewart'' played bass, guitar, and acted as recording engineer/producer and manager. ''Woebegone'' changed their name to ''Serenna'' around 2004, and were a fusion of dark/gothic rock, neoclassical and folk elements, often featuring violinists and/or cellists, and had a very strong visual stage presence.
