Johnny McIntosh joined the Satellites following the death of drummer Morrie Holmes, and has continued with the Satellites for over 15 years. Johnny has had a long career as a drummer/percusionist and vocalist playing a wide variety of music including Jazz, Jazz/Rock, Country/Rock and Blues. He spend many years playing in a Trio with Max Cleaver on piano, Mike Frogley on bass and John on drums, at both the Hillcrest Lodge Restaurant and the Ohaupo Hotel in Hamilton in the 1970-1980s. Johnny toured as a backing musician with the Marshall Waternam arranged "Grand Ole Opery" show that featured Gray Bartlett, Brendan Dugan, Susan Prentice and Jodie Vaughan. Johnny is widely respected by the many musicians he has performed with in over 40 years performing music in the greater Waikato and Bay of Plenty region. He played with the Satellites on their last major concert in Hamilton in 2009, "Legends of the Waikato". Johnny continues to periodically work with the Satellites.
