The ''Hamilton Civic Choir'' was formed in 1946, and has the reputation as one of New Zealand's finest choirs. They perform large choral works of the great composers, usually with organ or orchestral accompaniment and with national or international soloists, chamber music and other shorter and more modern works. They work under the direction of both local and international conductors. Currently the choir comprise about 60 singers. The current musical director is Rachael Griffiths-Hughes. In 1984 they released an albnum [[The Hamilton Civic Choir Sings Hymns and Carols]].
