The original munter bar in Htown, catering to the office worker spillage during business hours & then anyone wearing a collar during the evenings, though with a distinct lean toward the bogan.
A great garden bar in the summer with a small stage, hosting numeous wet t shirt competitions & the occasional band.
Its proximity was handy for a stroll down the river banks for a quick session. The bouncers whilst notorious sluts were skilled in armed combat, one went on to represent NZ in kickboxing.
Gov's, as it was affectionately known, hosted The Generator 89FM Battle a couple of times earlier in the decade, and soon afterwards relaunched itself as a dedicated live-music bar.
A great pub, sadly missed.
