sink \ sink emerged from Hamilton band Laughter in the Mainsail, whose first line up comprised of Jamie Dryden (vocals) and Alan Deare (bass), Gareth Schott on guitar and Greg Thomas on drums. They disbanded in November 2010, with Dryden and Deare forming Blood Pops in 2011.

sink \ sink now comprises of Schott with Kim Schulke (vocals) and Callum Plews (programming and production).
