Following a diagnosis of Motor Neurone Disease, the compilation [[In Thrust We Trust]] was released in 2020 to raise fund for Dean and his family.

Originally hailing from Te Awamutu, Dean Ballinger (a.k.a. Dirk Thrust) has served most notably as the drummer for the Hollow Grinders and Mobile Stud Unit. He was also singer for punk/new wave covers band The Readers' Wives, the brains behind Lumiere, cartoonist extraordinaire. Used to co-host morning radio show on Contact 89FM and UFM, alongside Greg Page. Following a diagnosis of Motor Neurone Disease, the compilation In Thrust We Trust was released in 2020 to raise fund for Dean and his family.
