Chuganaut’s music is loosely based around Rock, Alternative and Twisted Metal styles but is "Nothing you can put your finger on" to categorize / Mellow & Heavy Extremes!

Stu, Lil, Munro and Nail of Chuganaut

Chuganaut has a little bit of everything: an expressive flurry of chaotic rhythms, quirky hooks and quick changes that are symbolic of singer (’Solid’) Stu’s song writing. Add a dash of Nail-wrenching riffs, Lil-ting drumbeats, Munro-ic bass and heartfelt Solid-vocals and you have the heart of Chuganaut. Combine this with a combustible mix of passionate spontaneity and you have the soul of Chuganaut.

Formed 2002, Chuganaut is Waikato based and combines a mixture of "Different people with similar tastes" who have combined their skills and found the secret ingredient that has created the unique sound of Chuganaut.

To see Chuganaut perform live on stage is the best way to 'hear' their music. They are visually intense. A highly energetic band delivering powerful performances, Chuganaut provide everything with good intentions in creative music that inspires people to have fun when they come to a show.

Chuganaut has received regular airtime on nationwide radio and has appeared live on C4TV and national TV and has had numerous articles written in magazines and newspapers (see some press articles on www.chuganaut.com).

Chuganaut won the Woodstock Blue Battle of the Bands competition in 2003, taking out first place for Most Outstanding Guitarist, Most Outstanding Drummer and People’s Choice Award and also won the Bay of Plenty Regional Finals of the Battle of the Bands in the same year.

In 2004 Chuganaut released two singles, produced its first music video and released a single ('Brightside') on the Axe Attack Metal CD Compilation Vol 1. Chuganaut also became the Worldwide Winners of the first ever World Battle of the Bands competition, having won the New Zealand National Finals and the Waikato and Bay of Plenty Regional Finals in the same year.

Opening the 2005 Big Day Out in Auckland to a crowd of thousands brought tremendous support from both old and new fans. Ensuing media reviews have been highly positive.

Playing major towns of New Zealand with the Axe Attack Vol 1 Nationwide Tour has shown that Chuganaut’s music and visually intense stage presence has a fast growing popularity. Touring nine venues of the north island Chuganaut promoted its 6-track EP entitled 'Wolf'. Released through Intergalactic Records and being the prize for winning the 2004 World Battle of the Bands, two of the tracks were recorded at Area 51 studios. The 'Wolf' CD is complemented with a video of the same name, directed by Greg Page of Fish n Clips, and is being aired on Juice TV, XSTV and C4TV.

As their first step in an international career, Chuganaut played live in Brisbane and on the Gold Coast, Australia in December 2005. 2006 promises to see Chuganaut back in the studio recording their long awaited debut album. An extensive promotional tour will follow the release of the CD.
