''Chanting Boys'' were a four piece band active between 1984 and 1988, which included [[Tim Santner]]. The band had a gothic rock sound. They recorded a four-track demo at [[the Fridge Studio]], produced by [[John Pattenden]], which was sent to radio stations on a TEAC c90 cassette. Songs on the demo were ''Imaginary Lovers'', ''Away to Stay Today'', ''Katherine by Night'' and ''Grey Day''. Several songs featured on the [[Contact]] [[Top 13|Top 20]] for a number of weeks, while ''Katherine by Night'' was also a hit on Radio Active in Wellington.
