Carnaby Blue was a cover band active between 1969 and 1972, who primarily played songs by artists such as Uriah Heep, Deep Purple, Grand Funk Railroad. Steve Spillane, Stan Lim, Paul Kunac, Paul Middlebrook and John Booth were the original members, with Keith MacMillan replacing Booth, and Mike Abbot replacing Kunac in 1969. A second vocalist Peter Christieson was added soon after that.

The band played in and around Hamilton for around three years, were resident at the Peachgrove Lounge in Peachgrove Rd. They won the Waikato heat of the Battle of the Bands at Starlight Ballroom in 1971.
