Acme, standing for 'Aids Carrying Mosquito Epidemic', were a punk band from Raglan and Hamilton.

Poondip (bass), along with Justin Black (guitar), developed the concept of Acme in Raglan, where they recorded songs on a tape deck. Australian-born Poondip grew up in Kenya, and after moving to New Zealand lived in a garden shed in Raglan. Other early members included a Fijian drummer nicknames 'Animal'. Together, with Sol Cooper (vocals) and James Campkin (drums), they started writing and playing songs around 1994. Gareth Pemberton took over on guitars for a while, until Matt Henderson joined and brought a bunch of new songs.

They played a few gigs including supporting Shihad and HLAH at the Raglan pub and recorded an album, I'm Totally Fucking Hopeless, at Rex's rehearsal studio for $20.

Poondip continues to play as Acme.
