Old Loaves
Old Loaves is a heavy three-piece band, formed in Wellington in 2009 by Ben Ward, Kalem O'Brien (Batstorm Murders) and Cameron Reid (Blue Cross). Ward relocated to Sydney in 2012 while O'Brien and Reid remained in Wellington. Ward put together a new lineup in Sydney featuring Logan Muir (Diocletian) on bass. In late 2013, Ward relocated again, this time to Auckland. By then, O'Brien had moved to Melbourne, and Reid was now based in Hamilton. In early 2014, the band announced a new lineup with John Strange (Arc of Ascent, Viking Weed) joining on bass, and Reid returning to the band on drums. The band is now primarily based in Hamilton.
The band has opened for Dead Meadow (US), Doomriders (US), Kylesa (US), Torche (US) and will be opening for Neurosis (US) in February 2017.
Old Loaves have played Hamtown Smakdown twice: for the first time in 2012; and again in 2015.
