CI5

CI5 were formed in 1979, finding inspiration from the bands of the 1960s, such as The Kinks, The Who and The Beatles. Over their six to seven years of activity, they changed their name from CI5 to Shnappz, and then to Morrocon Mold. The first name change occurred after a 'friend' of the band made the mistake of spray painting the band's name, CI5, on a building wall on the corner of Victoria and Bryce Streets.

The bands music evolved through time, taking on the sounds of The Cure, U2, and many other popular bands of the era. The band played as a support act for various bands at The Hillcrest Tavern, The Lady H and Uncle Sams, including The Politicians, Hip Singles and Gary Havoc and the Hurricanes. They enjoyed playing 'underage' gigs at The Studio (Jupiters) and were frequent visitors to small, but energetic groups of fans in Thames and Taupo.
