Bitumus were a hard rock group fronted by Jules Cairney (guitar, vocals), initially with Darryl Monteith (ex-Whisperscream; drums), Richard Jones (guitar) and Grant Hislop (bass). Hislop and Monteith were eventually replaced by Munro Goodwin (bass) and Dean Fisher (drums). This lineup released an EP "When I want to Drown" independently in April 1996 with a release party at Down Under Bar. The track also appeared on the 1996 compilation In Love With This Town. Two other tracks, Measure of Pain and Days are Longer, appear on the 2002 compilation REAL. Munro Goodwin went on to Chuganaut.
